An employee's salary is only part of what they cost you. Enter the annual salary or hourly wage plus hours, and the calculator adds the employer's share of CPP and EI, vacation pay, and typical overhead (benefits, WSIB/WCB premiums, equipment) to reveal the true annual cost — often 1.25 to 1.4 times the salary in Canada.
Tip: use the true cost, not the salary, when deciding whether a hire pays for itself — the fully loaded number is the one that has to be covered by revenue.
