The margin of error tells you how much wiggle room surrounds a survey percentage. Enter your confidence level, observed proportion, and sample size to get the plus or minus figure pollsters quote.
Tip: to halve your margin of error you must quadruple your sample size, which is why most serious polls use 1,000 or more respondents.
