About this calculator
The Percentage Increase or Decrease calculator measures relative change between two values. Enter the original and new values; it subtracts, divides by the original, and multiplies by 100. A result of plus 25 percent or minus 40 percent is far more meaningful than the raw difference alone.
Tip: percentage changes do not reverse symmetrically — a 50 percent drop needs a 100 percent gain to recover, which is why down 50 then up 50 still leaves you 25 percent short.
