📊 Density Altitude
True density altitude from pressure altitude and temp
About this calculator
Density Altitude tells pilots how high the airplane feels to the engine and wings, combining pressure altitude with temperature and humidity effects. Enter pressure altitude and outside air temperature; the calculator applies the standard approximation — roughly 120 feet of density altitude per degree Celsius above standard. High density altitude robs climb performance and lengthens takeoff rolls.
Tip: on hot days at high-elevation airports, run the numbers before committing to a full-fuel, full-seat departure — density altitude surprises cause more performance accidents than engine failures.
