Drywall comes in 4×8 and 4×12 sheets, and this calculator maps your walls to sheets. Enter the wall dimensions and it estimates the number of sheets needed, accounting for standard sheet sizes and subtracting large openings like doors and windows, plus a waste factor for cuts. It also tallies the joint compound and tape you'll roughly need, and rounds the sheet count up to whole sheets, because suppliers don't sell fractions.
Tip: hang the longest sheets you can handle — fewer seams mean less taping, mudding, and sanding later.
