A gravel driveway needs the right depth — too thin and it ruts, too thick and you waste money. Enter the length, width, and desired depth (4 inches is typical for driveways) and the calculator gives you the volume in cubic yards and tonnes, using standard gravel density. It includes a small compaction allowance.
Tip: compact the base in layers and consider a geotextile fabric underneath — it stops gravel sinking into soft soil and roughly doubles the driveway's life.
