About this calculator
Roofing materials are sold by the "square" (100 sq ft), and your roof's slope changes everything. Enter the footprint dimensions and the roof pitch, and the calculator computes the true roof area using the slope factor, converts it to squares, and adds a waste allowance for cuts, valleys, and ridges.
Tip: measure pitch with a level and tape — a 12-inch horizontal run and the vertical rise give you the pitch directly, and steeper roofs need more material plus more safety gear.
