ðķ Dog Age in Human Years
True dog age conversion by breed size
About this calculator
Dog years are not simply times seven. Enter your dog's age and size category â small, medium, or large â and the calculator converts to human-equivalent years using the modern veterinary formula, which accounts for the fact that big dogs age faster than small ones.
The science-backed formula is 16 Ã ln(dog age) + 31, adjusted by size: a one-year-old dog is roughly 31 in human years regardless of breed, but by age 10 a large dog is well past a small dog's equivalent. Large breeds simply burn through their senior years faster.
Tip: Switch large and giant breeds to senior food and vet checkups around age 6 or 7 â in human terms they are already pushing 50, even if they still act like puppies.
