About this calculator
The wind triangle is the core of dead reckoning: your true course is where you want to go, the wind pushes you sideways, and the heading plus wind correction angle is what you actually fly. This calculator solves the triangle digitally, giving you the correction in degrees left or right, the true heading to fly, and your resulting groundspeed.
Tip: sanity check the answer against your groundspeed. If the wind is mostly on the nose and your groundspeed is higher than your airspeed, something is wrong.
