About this calculator
Merch only works if the margins do. Enter your selling price, per-unit production cost, platform or marketplace fees, and expected units sold — the calculator returns profit per item, total profit, and margin percentage, with break-even units if you have upfront setup costs.
Profit per unit equals price − (base cost + fees + shipping), and total profit multiplies by units minus any fixed setup costs. Print-on-demand looks cheap until you see the base cost eating 60 percent of a $25 shirt — volume and simpler designs rescue the margin.
Tip: Price with fees in mind from the start — marketplace commissions of 10 to 20 percent turn a "profitable" design into a loss if you set the price before doing this math.
