About this calculator
Turn a script into a video runtime estimate before you record. Paste your script or enter a word count, pick a pace — conversational (~130 wpm), standard (~150 wpm), or energetic (~170 wpm) — and the calculator returns the spoken length plus time for pauses, intros, and B-roll.
Spoken minutes equal word count ÷ words per minute, with about 10 to 15 percent added for natural pauses and transitions. A 1,500-word script at 150 wpm runs 10 minutes of speech — plan 11 to 12 with breathing room.
Tip: Write for the ear, not the eye — read the script aloud while timing yourself once, then calibrate the calculator's pace setting to your actual delivery.
