⚖️ Weight & Balance
Total weight, moment and CG against your envelope
About this calculator
Every pound in an airplane has an arm, its distance in inches from the datum, and weight times arm gives a moment. Add up all the moments and divide by the total weight to find the center of gravity. Both the total weight and the CG must sit inside the limits in your POH, because an out-of-envelope CG can make the airplane uncontrollable in pitch.
Tip: recompute after any loading change. Burning fuel moves the CG, and the landing CG matters just as much as the takeoff CG.
