🧭 Wind Correction Angle
Crab angle to maintain course in crosswind
About this calculator
The Wind Correction Angle calculator finds the heading to fly so the airplane tracks the desired course. Enter true course, true airspeed, and wind direction and speed; it solves the wind triangle — the angle whose sine equals crosswind component divided by airspeed — giving the crab angle into the wind.
Tip: remember the correction changes as the wind does, so re-check the triangle at each waypoint on long legs; a set-and-forget heading drifts you steadily off course as winds shift.
